B And Q Drawer Runners
The dream British kitchen features a minimalist design, smart tech (including a TV to watch while washing-up) and plenty of natural light, a new survey has found.
B&Q asked 2,000 of the nation's homeowners to share details of their ultimate kitchen renovation. Freestanding islands, pull-out cabinets, a double sink, under-cabinet lighting and a view of the countryside while washing-up were the top must-haves.

Smart tech to make chores easier was also high on the list, plus little luxuries like a sleek 'hide and slide' oven, fancy coffee machine, wine fridge, heated flooring and an instant boiling water tap. Granite workshops were a must for most, along with a minimalist design.
On the flip side, 49% of respondents said they were less worried about big money buys, and simply wanted more natural light. White walls, stylish floor tiles and plenty of space were also musts.

While two-thirds of those surveyed know how they want their dream kitchen to look – and say their current design makes them feel "sad" – one in four said they haven't updated their kitchens for a decade or more.
Mike Lavers, Category Manager for Kitchens at B&Q, says renovation hesitations are often down to unfounded beliefs about cost.
"The kitchen is the heart of the home for millions so it makes sense that there is a strong desire to make it the dream space," he says.
"However, we've found people are overestimating the cost and don't realise it is more affordable than they think – especially with everyday low prices."
